The history of the hot dog in Chicago dates back to the 1893 World’s Fair in Chicago’s Jackson Park. The founders of Vienna Beef Hot Dogs (Emil Reichel and Samuel Ladany) showcased their new creations.

Over the years, the hot dog become a staple of Chicago’s street food scene and somewhere along the way, hot dog vendors began experimenting with “dragging it through the garden”, aka putting vegetables on hot dogs to make it more of a complete meal.

Boom, the Chicago Style Hot Dog was born. Today, you can find them all throughout the city, suburbs, and even nationwide. It is truly one of Chicago’s Iconic Foods.
