AMAZING AQUATIC ANIMALS at The Shedd Aquarium
In this video we take a virtual tour of The Shedd Aquarium, one of the largest aquariums in the world! It opened in 1930 and is located on Chicago’s Historic Museum Campus.
For many years, the Shedd Aquarium was the largest aquarium in the world. Its 5 million gallons house over 32,000 animals. In 1987, the Shedd Aquarium was placed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Construction of the Shedd Aquarium began in 1927 and finished two years later. Designed by the legendary Chicago architectural firm Graham Anderson Probst & White in the neoclassical style, it was originally named the John G. Shedd Aquarium. Four Greek doric columns front the building, which has an octagonal shape to maximize aquarium space.
It landed on the National Register of Historic places in 1987. The Shedd Aquariums amazing exhibits include: Underwater Beauty, Abbott Oceanarium, Wild Reef, Caribbean Reef, Polar Play Zone, Amazon Rising, Islands & Lakes, Oceans, Rivers, At Home on the Great Lakes, Stingray Touch.
